Education and Alternative Provision

Learning built around the individual

Every learner deserves to feel understood, included and able to make progress. When education is difficult to access, finding a suitable way forward can take time, patience and the right support.

Fox Education and Advocacy CIC supports children, young people and families facing barriers to learning, particularly those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We work alongside families and other professionals to understand what is happening, what matters to the learner and what could help.

Education support

Sometimes the first step is making sense of the current situation. A learner may be struggling to attend, finding their environment overwhelming or receiving support that does not meet their needs.

We can help families to:

  • Explain the learner’s strengths, needs and experiences.
  • Understand education plans, reports and the support being proposed.
  • Prepare for meetings with schools, education providers and local authorities.
  • Explore suitable educational options and practical next steps.
  • Communicate concerns and contribute to decisions about support.

We listen to the learner as well as the adults around them. Their interests, views and aspirations should help shape the way forward.

Developing our Alternative Provision

We are developing an Alternative Provision offer for learners who need a different approach to education.

Our aim is to create supportive, purposeful learning opportunities that respond to individual needs, build on strengths and help learners reconnect with education. This may include practical activities, learning linked to personal interests and opportunities to develop confidence, communication and independence.

The provision is being developed. Please contact us to discuss your needs and find out what support is currently available. An enquiry does not confirm that a placement is available or suitable.

What matters in our approach

Relationships and trust
We take time to understand the person and build a relationship in which they feel listened to and respected.

Accessible learning
We consider what makes learning difficult and what adjustments could help someone participate.

Meaningful progress
Progress can include gaining a new skill, communicating a need, taking part in an activity or feeling confident enough to try again.

Working together
Families, carers, schools and other professionals bring valuable knowledge. We aim to work collaboratively, with clear communication and an agreed understanding of the support being offered.

For schools, local authorities and other organisations

We welcome conversations with organisations looking for education support or interested in the development of our Alternative Provision.

Before any support begins, we will discuss the learner’s needs, the intended outcomes and whether our offer is suitable. Where we can help, the scope of support, safeguarding arrangements, responsibilities, fees and review arrangements will be agreed in advance.

Talk to us

Whether you are a parent, carer, young person or professional, you are welcome to get in touch.

Please give us a brief outline of the support you are looking for. You do not need to send detailed reports or sensitive personal information with your first enquiry. We can discuss what information is needed and how to share it appropriately.
